It all started with the day before.… Paul and Emily went to go pick up some new glasses, pretty innocent. Next, Paul wanted to check out the Japanese Friendship Garden nearby. We walk around the garden and pass by a beautiful statue and a Fantastic waterfall into a crystal clear Koi pond. All Emily is thinking is “what a beautiful proposal spot!” Next, we cross a cobblestone bridge and head toward the exit. Emily is now wondering what the heck we are doing here but says nothing. Paul innocently just wanted to see what the Japanese friendship garden was all about.
The following day we woke up early and started driving north. We wanted to see some fall foliage, so we decided on a hike that trecks through a little plot of aspen. Paul somehow found out about a Lava tunnel cave that was located nearby. We were so early for our original hike, Paul decided to head towards the cave. We were the only cars in the parking area and were lucky enough to have the cave all to ourselves and our dog.
The cave itself was too rocky to carry the dog, and there was no way he was walking through it without help. So Emily went down into the cave first, she never went far enough into the darkness to be out of Paul’s sight. Paul goes into the cave and completely disappears but could still be heard. He said something along the lines of “I found something cool to show you, I’ll bring it up.”
Unsuspecting Emily is at the top of the cave with the dog, sitting on some rocks. Paul comes up from the darkness of the cave and gets down on one Knee, presents the most beautiful ring, and pops the question! Obviously Emily said YES!
The Two Towers
This beautiful ring was fully designed by Paul and created to not get stuck in Emilys hair!
THE ONE RING, Obviously. So naturally, Emily went world wide and contacted the original prop creators of the Lord of the Rings. They put Emily in contact with the original Jeweler that created The One Ring. Emily soon discovered, that guy died, but had passed the business and tradition onto his son. His son beautifully created Paul’s replica of The One Ring that Paul has always dreamed of.
Then it got stuck in customs and Emily had to teach boarder patrol all about the lord of the rings.
Designed by the same jeweler as Paul’s, it matches both Emily’s engagement ring and Paul’s Wedding ring perfectly and is engraved in elvish to say,
"One ring to show our love,
One ring to bind us,
One ring to seal our love,
And forever to entwine us."
Its part of our honeymoon dream to visit the ring maker in New Zealand!
